ABOUT

 

Critical Thinkers, Humanists, and Unbelievers at Lawrence University (CTHULU) is a student organization at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. CTHULU was founded in October of 2012 by Alexa Blumenstock, the group's current president.

The purposes of CTHULU are to:

 

  • Promote and practice the open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it 

 

  • Emphasize that ethics and morality can be meaningfully based on rational and humanistic ideals and values 

 

  • Promote skeptical inquiry

 

  • Provide community for atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, naturalists, and other freethinkers

 

  • Organize activities such as forums for discussion, guest speakers, and debates that educate Lawrence University and the surrounding community

 

  • Foster aceptance of freethinkers

 

  • Advocate for the separation between church and state 



CTHULU is an affiliate of the Secular Student Alliance and the Center for Inquiry.
